About
Clear information for U.S. retirement accounts held from abroad.
Why we exist
Many people leave the United States with a former employer's 401(k) still in place. Once salary, bills and pensions are in another country, that account can be easy to overlook, and the questions about fees, access and taxes can feel hard to untangle from a distance.
My401k.International publishes practical, plain-language guides to help you understand your choices. When you would like professional help, we can explore an introduction to an independent financial advisor.
Who we write for
Mainly Americans living abroad with an old U.S. 401(k), and also former U.S. workers now living overseas. Tax treatment differs by status and country, so our guides point out where a U.S.-citizen example may not apply to you.
Our role
We are an education and referral platform, not a financial advisory firm. We do not manage investments, hold client money, execute rollovers or provide personalized investment, tax or legal advice. Keeping your existing plan can be a reasonable choice, and we will not treat every visitor as needing a rollover.

Either way, there is no obligation to act.
