FAQs
Questions about how we work.
What does My401k.International do?
We publish educational guides for people living outside the United States with U.S. retirement accounts, and we can introduce you to an independent financial advisor if you would like professional help.
Do you manage my money?
No. We do not manage investments, hold client money or execute rollovers, and we do not provide personalized investment, tax or legal advice.
Do I have to roll over my account?
No. Moving abroad does not by itself require a rollover. Keeping your existing plan may be a reasonable option, depending on the plan's rules, access from your country and costs.
Compare keeping your plan with a rolloverHow does an introduction work?
You share your country of residence, your main question and any optional context. If an independent advisor may be able to help, we can explore an introduction. You decide whether to speak with them and whether to proceed.
How it worksIs an advisor available in every country?
No. Availability depends on where you live, your circumstances and each advisor's permitted scope. We cannot guarantee an introduction.
What information should I share?
Your name, email, country of residence and main question are enough to start. Please do not send Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, statements or identity documents through the form.
How is the platform compensated?
My401k.International may receive compensation in some referral arrangements. Applicable compensation and conflicts should be identified before a relevant introduction.
